Description

This is a well-executed miniature, done in watercolor on a wafer, signed on right H. BOUDIER, a known miniature artist, specializing in French nobility, and active in the first half of the 19th c. The original was painted in 1832 by Leopold Bucher. 

The subject is Napoléon François Joseph Charles Bonaparte; 20 March 1811 – 22 July 1832, King of Rome, the only legitimate son of the Emperor of France Napoleon Bonaparte, and his wife, Empress Marie Louise of Austria. 

Portrait measures 6 cm in diameter, ebonized hardwood frame is 12x12 cm square.
