FRENCH PREMIERE EMPIRE INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD

$1,295.00

Description

This French Premiere Empire officer's sword dates ca.1805-1814.
Hilt is in the Premiere Empire Epee Uniforme style, of silvered brass, ostensibly being an infantry officer's sword. Grip is wrapped in interchanging sections of brass and silver wires, some strands of wire are a period replacement. Spadroon-style blade is 83 cm long, and retains a fair amount of blue and gild. Emperor Napoleon's Eagle is proudly displayed on the blade, which is an uncommonly seen decoration on French blades of that time frame. Obverse side of the ricasso is maker-marked IC or IG. An excellent Napoleonic sword!
