BRITISH GEORGIAN NAVAL DIRK WITH LION'S HEAD POMMEL CA.1810

$850.00

Description

This unusually-large Georgian naval dirk measures 51 cm overall, with a 16"/40 cm long blade, which retains vestiges of decorations, the sun in splendor, talismanic stars, etc. The cross-guard is embellished with the Tudor rose. The quillons were period-altered, Lion's head pommel is sculpted in bold high relief, done in good detail. The original belt suspension chain is still attached to scabbard rings, something we only rarely see on naval dirks dating to the early 1800s.
