Description

This beautiful ca.1780 smallsword, with a faceted cut steel hilt comes from from the British industrial revolution pioneer Matthew Boulton's Soho Manufactory in Birmingham. This exact design of the hilt is in Boulton's pattern books. Overall length is 92 cm, tri-foil blade is 80 cm, with vestiges of etched floral decorations on both sides of the forte. The condition of the hilt is outstanding, retaining its original factory polish. The complex grip wrap is entirely intact, the sword is light, fast, and very welly balanced. An excellent American Revolutionary War period English smallsword!
