This attractive American artillery officer's plumed knight's head pommel sword is in the French fashion and dates ca.1830. Counterguard is nicely decorated in fine detail with the eagles, stars, federal shield, freedom cap, American Indian chief. Spadroon blade is 31" long, retains traces of blue and gilt and is etched with cannon, flags, floral and martial motifs. Scabbard was professionally repaired at the time of use. Mother of pearl grips are in excellent untouched state, bound with gilt wire. Guard has some play to it.
