This M1850 field officer's sword dates to the Bellum period. Casting quality of the hilt is not the greatest, with poorly-defined detail of the decoration especially evident in the laurel leaf running around the pommel. Blade is 31" long and a little over an inch wide at the ricasso. Unstopped fullers start 6/8" from the hilt and run until 8 1/2" from the point on either side. Hilt is tight and strong, blade has some dark patches, otherwise is straight and true.
