AMERICAN REVOLUTIONARY WAR PERIOD ENGLISH SILVER-HILTED OFFICER'S CUTTOE

$0.00

Description
This wonderful cuttoe dates ca.1780, and has a beautiful hand-chased silver and ebony hilt, both quillons shaped as hunting dog heads. The pommel has a stippled background, with raised floral decorations and a proud button. There is a rain keeper on the bottom of the hilt, also of sterling silver.  Fighting quality blade is Montmorency, 64 cm long and 2.5 cm wide at the ricasso. Blade has acquired a dark uniform patina. Either a well-off civilian,  army or naval officer would have owned a sword like this.
