Projektsäbel für die KuK Pioniertruppen M1847.
This is only the second example of this rare experimental sword that I have ever seen, other than in books. Blade is in rough condition, but the scabbard mounts survived, which is a small miracle. It is my understanding that, after not passing the trials with the Austrians, whatever few remaining leftover hirschfangers were sold off to the Ottoman Empire, which might be substantiated by the arabic numeral stamped on one of the quillons and the Arabic-looking marks on the guard.
