Description
This British infantry flank officer's fighting sabre dates to the very turn of the 19th c. It's mounted with a very curved 28"/71 cm unfullered blade with a false edge. Blade is profusely decorated almost to the forte with the British Royal regalia, monogram GR, as well as various military motifs. Etching is nice and crisp. Iron scabbard and hilt have acquired a nice uniform patina with spots of prior cleaniongs. The rear langet is long gone. Leather on the grip is dry, with missing spot exposing the wooden core. Sword is very nicely balanced, light, comfortable to hold.
An excellent British early Napoleonic period fighting sword!
