Description

This wonderful Bavarian court sword dates ca.1848-1864. Blade is 77 cm. long and is splendidly blued and gilt. The hilt retains virtually all of its gilding. The grips are mother of pearl, with a central medallion decorated with the Royal Cipher of Maximilian II. Hilt exhibits some looseness, due to the delicate construction. Scabbard is in fine condition, the scabbard top locket bears a button in the form of a Roman cameo. A wonderful early Bavarian court sword in admirable state of preservation.
