Description
This Prussian Infantrie Offizier Extra-Degen Modele 1889 is truly a superb piece of armourer's art. The quality of the hand-chasing of the hilt is one of the best I have ever seen. Made by the Pack Ohliger & Companie in Solingen, this was a very expensive presentation-quality piece in its day. 77 cm-long blade is straight and true, with only some minor "in and out" rubbing at the point. One-ring scabbard is in very good shape, with superficial scoffs and a couple of bumps. This is indeed a fine sword for a serious collector of the German World War One era edged weapons.
