Description

This wonderful sword from the small African nation of Malawi dates between 1964, when Malawi gained her independence from Great Britain, to 1974, when Wilkinson stopped numbering the swords they made and sold. The blade on this sword is numbered 109629. The sword is basically a British 1897 Pattern for the Army officers. Malawi crest and motto UNITY AND FREEDOM are etched on the guard and the blade. Blade is 84 cm long, profusely decorated, and maker-marked. Condition of the sword and the leather-covered service scabbard is superb.

A rare sword indeed.
