Description
This Northern European [Dutch or German] heavy cavalry campaign Walloon-hilted broad-sword dates to the Thirty Year War, ca.1640, and is mounted with a massive 98 cm. long blade by the famous Solingen bladesmith Peter Munich, whose mark, a profile of the king's crowned head, is stamped on both sides of the blade. Sword is 108 cm. long overall. The hilt had acquired a nice uniform patina, with a small scar from an enemy's blade on the knucklebow. The sword is tight, with all of its original wire grip wrap completely intact. An excellent, expressive mid-17th c. cuirassier's broadsword!
