This Spanish Colonial munition grade dish-hilted or taza rapier is mounted with a 88 cm. long blade, which is dated 1749 on either side, and engraved with a Passau-like running wolf. Possibly hilted in the Americas or the Spanish Main, this sword was carried by a Colonial infantryman. The hilt has acquired a nice patina. Grip is not original. Sword is lightweight, with good balance.
