An honest Civil War Army of the Potomac NCO's sword, with boldly stamped maker's and inspector's marks. Blade is dated 1865, making it part of the last order for these swords by the US Government. Blade is 32"/82 cm-long. The patina on the brass is nice and even aside from some greenish crystals on one of the lobes of the hilt. An interesting feature is the presence of a make-shift thread-tied leather loop, probably to accept the portepee cord. No scabbard.
