US NAVY M1852 OFFICER'S SWORD CA.1852-1858 PRE-CIVIL WAR

The most interesting aspect of this sword is the wreath of 31 stars etched on the blade, which dates this sword ca.1852-1858. In May of 1858 Minnesota became the 32nd State.

Blade is 29" long, extensively etched in popular naval and American symbols, marked IRON PROOF on the back. The hilt is uniformly patinated. There is some mild play to the hilt. Scabbard is in excellent condition, with nice deep patina as well.
Pre-Civil War M1852 US Navy officers swords are quite rare.
